NCI Advanced Technology Research Facility

While I worked for the National Cancer Institute (NCI), I managed the Advanced Technology Research Facility project. I was the Project Executive for financial evaluation of options, lease negotiations, development of contract and lease documents, A/E negotiations and construction contract negotiations. The $247 million, 330,000 square feet translational R&D facility houses advanced technology labs, bio-pharmaceutical development, cGMP production facilities, a bioinformatics computing facility, and supporting office space.

To speed the research, development and production of clinical-grade pharmaceuticals for use in NCI clinical trials, NCI ventured into the National Institutes of Health’s first public-private partnership. The fast-track design and construction was completed in just over three years, including the fit out and commissioning of the cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. I hired and managed outside legal and financial advisers to assist in the process.
